Testimonials

"Mark Jansheski was our general contractor for the construction of our new home at 120 Gilmartin Drive in Tiburon, CA. Diana and I are very happy to be able to highly recommend Mark based on our extensive experience working with him.

To put our comments in context, we had designed and built a home once before, and had a generally good experience. The project we worked on with Mark was architect designed, roughly 4,000 square feet, and took about ten months to complete.

From our perspective, there are three attributes, which characterize Mark Jansheski as a general contractor: integrity, responsibility, and creativity.

Above all else, we enjoyed working with Mark because of his personal integrity. We found him to be an exceptional individual with very high personal and professional standards. Initially, we had retained our architect to provide construction observation services. In the course of the project, this became largely unnecessary, and we found we could rely on Mark for reliable and objective information. We truly felt that Mark was unique. He was open and honest, and approached project issues in a manner that attempted to be fair to all parties.

Secondly, we came to trust in Mark's sense of professional responsibility. Rarely did we have to ask for something more than once. From our perspective, he maintained excellent relationships with everyone involved in the project – from sub-contractors and suppliers, to inspectors for the Town of Tiburon, and even the neighbors, We could not ask for a more professional contractor.

Finally, we retained Mark in part because we felt he could contribute to the project beyond simply building the plans as drawn. This turned out to be very much the case. Throughout construction, Mark contributed ideas and possible solutions to the inevitable questions which arise in the course of building a new home. A number of his suggestions turned out to add quality and even to save us money! While Mark is clearly a general contractor, and not a designer or an architect, his contributions to the process were invaluable.

Without hesitation, I can say that we would do business with Mark Jansheski in the future. His follow-through and attention to customer service are exemplary. We are delighted with the home he built for us and with the way he stands behind his work."

"After extensively searching for the best contractor to demolish and rebuild our family home at 2400 Mar East in Tiburon, CA, we engaged the services of Mark Jansheski. Our requirements were unique: although I have served as a project manager both professionally and personally, I live in Napa and work in Sacramento, and am not in Tiburon frequently.

My mother, who lives in Belvedere, needs the daily guidance of an experienced professional to assist her with decisions in detailing a complex architectural design. Further, the home to be demolished contained over 25 years of family memories, including those of my late father.

Our mandate was to build a naturally sound, affordable "cliffhanger" which exuded elegance on an extremely small waterfront lot, while embellishing the existing architectural renderings, and conforming to strict building restrictions. To further complicate matters, construction has been on a one lane serpentine street on the water's edge, with minimal parking and difficult passage. Some of our neighbors were highly concerned about the impact of the new project, and required frequent assurance.

Our architect put the plans out to bid to three contractors. Mark was not the cheapest of the three, although he sharpened his pencil to make the bid reasonable. It helped that Mark had recently built a beautiful home which we toured prior to making our decision, and that many years ago Mark had been our newspaper deliverer when he lived on Mar East. We were familiar with his eye for detail, his character and personality, and we were most inclined to go with him prior to the bidding process.

We have not been disappointed with the results of our decision. Mark has demonstrated keen political sensitivity in managing the opinions of the architect, my mother, and me. Mark places a high priority on communication, and we have known well in advance of the various hurdles we've had to face. He has followed his critical path efficiently, and short of some unanticipated engineering difficulties, has moved forward like clockwork. Waste has been minimal, and the job site has been kept tidy. We've received numerous compliments on the courtesy of Mark and his sub-contractors. Mark has devoted considerable time to developing additional storage space and a fire escape plan, to reworking plans which have not included extensive finish detail, and to suggesting highly unique materials and treatments.

We are, simply put, very pleased with his work."

"I recently hired Mark to manage completion of an involved refurbish/remodel project primarily to the interior main floor of a 6,000 square foot, old bank building at 55 Main Street in Tiburon. The project scope entailed: 1) opening up and clearing out the entire main floor to create functional office space (below, above and around a mezzanine addition); 2) the preservation of openness, attractive views and the historical character of a unique old bank space and; 3) simultaneously identifying, eliminating, restoring and/or upgrading such an old building (lighting, electricity, telecom/networking, HVAC, security, finishes, etc.). The work was challenged by: 1) a short completion deadline; 2) an employer inexperienced with projects of this nature; 3) professional employees worked in the building in close proximity to the project; 4)
major  elements  of  the  project  (installation  of  an  industrial mezzanine structure and decorative framed glass wall-systems) required coordinating unique subcontractors and; 5) the physical shell of the space was significantly constrained ('outside of the box" creative design and construction were needed on a change as you go basis).

The project was completed on a very timely basis, as agreed to on budget and benefited from Mark's efforts on many levels. Mark is very professional, responsive, attentive, and dedicated in all aspects of his work and clearly possesses a combination of intelligence, talent, and hard work to be an outstanding contractor: 1) demonstrates excellent organizational and project management skills (design/architectural, subcontractors, deadlines, accounting/billing/updates, time-management); 2) is focused, prioritizes and follows through with both an attention to detail and a comprehensive unity to the overall project; 3) is practical, flexible and straight-forward at handling the usual and unusual stuff that comes up and offers routine critical suggestions for improvement; 4) identifies and solves problems independently, but is also a most willing, communicative and effective team member and particularly effective facilitator; 5) offers a discerning eye for integrating both function and form and; 6) keeps things moving along with an uncanny dynamic sensibility to critical path and; 7) is very personable, has a good sense of humor and interacts easily with most everyone while managing to gain the most from all the important constituencies involved (architect, subcontractors, owner, tenants, suppliers, city planning, etc.).

I am grateful to Mark, and particularly for his habit of being several steps ahead, his always valuable suggestions and his commitment to both a challenging employer and project. Mark's sense of loyalty to the work was that of a "partner" where from original design to completion made significant contributions to improve: 1) the long-term value of the property 2) the overall functionality of the space as well as; 3) the esthetic appeal of the building."

"Mark Jansheski was the general contractor selected to construct the building and site improvements located at the corner of 7th & Grant Street in our Downtown Novato Shopping center. We are pleased to advise that Mr. Jansheski's construction operation was well organized resulting in an exemplary performance. His knowledge, expertise, experience, and ability to solve problems and construction "bottle-necks' wisely and efficiently is rare. Mr. Jansheski not only completed our project on time, but was able to accelerate completion to expedite the opening of business for our two new tenants, Noah's New York Bagel and Peet's Coffee & Tea.

Additionally, Mr. Jansheski is exceptionally gifted when negotiating and addressing the local governing authorities and sometimes eccentric personalities of those who might otherwise cause delays and disruptions of your project.

Prior to the construction project in our Downtown Center, Mr. Jansheski renovated and expanded a historic, turn of the century, Victorian ranch house located on our Sonoma County ranch property. All construction work was completed in an excellent manner, also Mr. Jansheski was invaluable in the selection of materials & finishes, to enhance and retain the architectural and historical appeal of the building.

We highly recommend Mr. Jansheski for any construction project and especially those than demand unusual talent, intelligence and know how."
